Who we are
The first chapter under the newly established IEEE Rwanda Subsection, advancing communications engineering from Kigali.
Mission
What drives us
The IEEE GRSS Rwanda Chapter promotes the advancement of remote sensing, earth observation, and geospatial science and technology in Rwanda. We serve members through technical activities, professional development, and community outreach, and we connect Rwandan engineers, researchers, and students to GRSS's global network of remote sensing professionals.
The chapter is being formed under the newly established IEEE Rwanda Subsection, joining the Subsection's growing family of society chapters and building on Rwanda's momentum in geospatial technology, from national land-use mapping to drone operations and space policy.
As Rwanda pursues its vision of becoming a regional ICT hub, the chapter works to ensure local talent has access to world-class technical knowledge, mentorship, and opportunities in remote sensing and earth observation.
Structure
Part of IEEE
The chapter operates under the IEEE Rwanda Subsection, the first IEEE geographic unit in Rwanda, launched in Kigali in July 2026 within IEEE Region 8. It is affiliated with the IEEE Geoscience & Remote Sensing Society, the IEEE society dedicated to geoscience and remote sensing, with roots going back to 1962.
